21st December 2018 - Advance Fee Fraud Scam

On 21st December 2018, telephone number +442033185380 was reported as being used by scammers to pretend to be Ian Walter working as Director, Private Banking for Metro Bank PLC using email address waltermetroprivatebankuk@gmail.com as part of an Advance Fee Fraud Scam.

In Advance Fee Fraud Scams, the scammer will offer you something of high value (a large sum of money or gold for example) and all you have to do is pay a "small" fee. What the scammer is offering you does not actually exist and the scammer will come up with fee after fee that needs to be paid by the victims, until he either runs out of money or realises that he has been scammed. The scammer will often pretend to be real people or companies, use fake websites and introduce various characters, all with the aim of convincing the victim that what is being offered to him is real.

I am the Director, International Private Banking Department of the Metro Bank, London UK, I am writing to inform you that your fund has been recovered by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and approval has been issued by British Financial Services for immediate transfer of the fund to your bank account, this is an inheritance Fund cleared and deposited in our reserve by the IMF for further transfer to your bank account with the accompanied transfer application letter tender on your behalf by IMF Legal Department.

Furthermore, be advised that Approvals has been granted for this transfer and the bank has been mandated to release this payment to you as the right beneficiary and it must be in accordance with the understanding and current proposed legislative payment agreement between the British Government and the Bank of England to release this fund to your Bank account via Metro Bank without delay.
