7th December 2020 - Advance Fee Fraud Scam

On 7th December 2020, telephone number +2348085760662 was reported as being used by scammers to pretend to be Dr. Frank Egobia using email address dmo.gov.ngr1@gmail.com as part of an Advance Fee Fraud Scam.

In Advance Fee Fraud Scams, the scammer will offer you something of high value (a large sum of money or gold for example) and all you have to do is pay a "small" fee. What the scammer is offering you does not actually exist and the scammer will come up with fee after fee that needs to be paid by the victims, until he either runs out of money or realises that he has been scammed. The scammer will often pretend to be real people or companies, use fake websites and introduce various characters, all with the aim of convincing the victim that what is being offered to him is real.

NOTIFICATION OF PAYMENT OF ACCRUED INTEREST OF FOUR MILLION, SIX HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND US DOLLARS ONLY (US$4,650,000.00).

Dear Beneficiary,

This is to officially inform you that this office of Debt Management Office (DMO) has received an immediate instruction from the Office of the Presidency that all accrued interest on contract sum/ inheritance fund that was deposited in commercial Banks before the principal sum was withdrawn by the Federal Government of Nigeria should not be declared as dividend which has been the old method by the commercial banks instead the beneficiary should be contacted and the Accrued Interest paid to them.

Sometime ago, your fund was deposited in some commercial banks by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), after some period of time, this money was taken back to the Federal Government Treasury, for the period of time your fund was with the commercial bank, it generated an interest of US$4.650 Million, which we have been instructed to coordinate the payment process. You will be paid via International Certified Bank Draft, ATM Card or a direct transfer to your nominated bank account depending on which process will be readily available.

You are advise to hasten up to process the payment of this US$4.650 Million as quickly as possible because the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) auditors usually cross-checks files of the commercial banks and their financial up-date. The CBN officials want your accrued interest sum paid to them but we have vehemently refused, based on the mandate given to us by the office of the presidency. Now, you have to claim your fund as soon as possible, otherwise, if the CBN officials find out that this interest sum is still with the commercial banks, they will want to call back the money to the Central Bank Treasury.
