Scam alert from the Solicitors Regulation Authority website:
An email has been sent to individuals misusing the name and details of a genuine firm, in relation to a supposed insurance policy claim.

The email seen by the SRA is signed off as being from "James Wellington, LL.B, LL.M" of "Hatten Wyatt LLP" and informs the recipient that they hold the same surname and nationality as his supposed deceased client - asking the recipient to assist in claiming the insurance policy. The email provides and misuses the address of a genuine firm.

The email provides the email addresses: James@mail.horizonpetrol.com, jameswelington@hattenwatt.com, jameswellington901@gmail.com and the telephone numbers: +441173251172, +441212704264.

The SRA does not authorise or regulate a solicitor with the name "James Wellington". The SRA has been informed that a website was also previously operating from the address "www.hattenwatt.com" which had cloned information from the website of a genuine firm, but this cloned website is no longer operating.

Any business or transaction through the above email addresses and telephone numbers are not undertaken by a solicitor’s practice or individual authorised or regulated by the SRA.
