Scam alert from Solicitors Regulation Authority website:
Members of the public have received a faxed letter claiming to be from "Tom Mallard" at "Tom Mallard Solicitors". The fax refers to a significant sum of money supposedly being held unclaimed by a financial institution, apparently having been left by a deceased client who had the same surname as the recipient of the fax.
The letters seen by the SRA propose that the recipient of the fax receive 50% of the money supposedly held in England, if they cooperate with the proposal.
The website lists three “attorneys†who are said to work for "Tom Mallard Solicitors", namely "Tom Mallard", "Ursula Ferguson" and one other name that misuses the name of genuine individuals.
The SRA does not authorise or regulate a firm called "Tom Mallard Solicitors" or any individual solicitors called "Tom Mallard" or "Ursula Ferguson". The website "www.tmallardsolicitors.co.uk" is not the website of a genuine firm of solicitors.
Any business or transactions through "Tom Mallard Solicitors", including using the contact details set out above, are not carried out by a solicitor’s practice or individuals authorised by the SRA.

Scam Alert from the Solicitors Regulation Authority website:
Letters have been sent misusing the name of a genuine solicitor in relation to inheritance monies. The letter proposes that the individual being contacted has a similar surname to that of their client and wishes for them to claim the inheritance which will then be split 50/50 between the solicitor and the individual.
The letter misuses the name and postal address of a genuine solicitor (see below). It also provides a false email address "andmstokes@gmail.com", a false telephone number "01144(117)3254870" and a false fax number "01144(203)0311093".
A website has also been set up misusing the name of a genuine solicitor – http://www.amssolicitor.co.uk. This website lists a Mr Angus Pintaric and a Ms Jacqueline Rutland as attorneys.
The SRA does not authorise or regulate any individuals by the name of Angus Pintaric or Jacqueline Rutland.
Any business or transactions through the email address, telephone number, fax number, website or names listed above are not undertaken by a solicitor's practice or an individual authorised or regulated by the SRA.
