The SRA has been informed that a member of the public has received an email falsely claiming to be from Kingsley Napley LLP. The SRA understands that the correspondence was in relation to a supposed reimbursement from a timeshare agreement, with an initial payment requested to supposedly release a larger amount.

The email seen by the SRA appears to have been sent from "Mr Daniel T. Cavanaugh QC", claiming to be a "Legal Secretary" and "Head of Administration" at "Kingsley Napley LLC" from the email address of "accounts@kingsleynapley.site". The email states that an individual called "Richard Foster" had previously spoken with the recipient and would follow up with another call regarding the matter.

The email provides a telephone, mobile and fax number of "+44 208 935 5065" (with Ext 818 given for the mobile number), and a link to an email address that appears as "dcavanaugh@kingsleynapley.co.uk" but seems to direct emails to the "accounts@kingsleynapley.site" email address.

The email misuses the name, registered postal address, website address, logo and SRA identification number of a genuine firm of solicitors.

Any business or transaction through the above email addresses or contact number are not undertaken by a solicitor’s practice or an individual authorised or regulated by the SRA.
