The SRA has been informed that the City of London Law Society has received an email falsely claiming to be from "Jonathan Gerber" of WGS Solicitors.
The email relates to the sale of a property and refers to an attached document entitled "memorandum of sale". A concern is that the attachment may contain malware if opened.
The email was sent from the email address jokedelaw@gmail.com.,and contains a footer which includes the genuine address and genuine SRA number of a genuine firm. The email also provides the telephone numbers +44 (0)207 732 4718, +44 (0)207 298 6435 and the fax number +44 (0)207 724 6473.
