The SRA has received a report that emails have been sent falsely claiming to be from Andrew Caunt Esq, Partner, at Greenberg Traurig Maher LLP to the accounts department of a number of companies in America.
Unsolicited emails had previously been sent to the finance department of the company, claiming to be from the Chief Executive Officer or other members of staff within the company (but in fact being a scam email).
The scam emails seen by the SRA provide false information and request payment to a bank in Hong Kong relating to an alleged business transaction.
The scam emails use the email address: andrew.caunt@gtlawll.com and give a contact telephone number of +44 20 3514 4694, a fax number of +44 20 3318 5340 and the address 200 Gray's Inn Road, London, WC1X 8HF.
The fax number and the web address that ends @gtlawll.com are associated with a previous alert published on 11 March 2016.
Any business or transactions through the email address andrew.caunt@gtlawll.com and/or the contact telephone number of +44 20 3514 4694 or fax number of +44 20 3318 5340 is not undertaken by a solicitor's practice or an individual authorised or regulated by the SRA.
