Scam Alert from the Solicitors Regulation Authority website:
An email has been sent from "John P. Tarrant" of "H.E & Co Solicitors", falsely claiming to be from a solicitor’s firm based in London.
The email seen by the SRA informs the recipient they are being contacted in relation to the "abandoned investment" of a client who has passed away in the UK. The supposedly deceased client seems to have the same surname as the recipient of the email.
The email is from "John P Tarrant", who describes himself as a "solicitor" and as Head of Litigation of "H.E. & Co Solicitors". The email is sent from the email address "johnpTarrant@hotmail.com" and the contact number provided is "+447083227460".
The email misuses the postal address in London of genuine firms of solicitors.
The SRA does not authorise or regulate a firm of solicitors called "H.E. & Co Solicitors". Any business or transaction through the email address or phone number set out above is not undertaken by a solicitor or firm authorised and regulated by the SRA.
