Scam Type: Advance Fee Fraud Scam
Scam alert from the Solicitors Regulation Authority website:
The SRA has been informed that members of public have received a letter by fax, claiming to be from "Keith Oliver (Distinction) Head of Private Client Attorney" with a letterhead and footer falsely claiming it is from Peters & Peters Solicitors LLP. The letter relates to pursuing compensation from a purportedly unclaimed "permanent life insurance policy", with the recipient of the letter understood to have the same last name as a supposedly deceased client.
The letter seen by the SRA also provides telephone numbers of "+442895817926" and "+44289537927", a fax number of "+441512102697" and email addresses of "koliver@consultant.com" and "ktholivrr@gmail.com".
The letter misuses the name and address of a genuine firm and the name of a genuine solicitor.
