Scam Type: Advance Fee Fraud Scam

Scam alert from the Solicitors Regulation Authority website:
A website “www.ppsolicitorsllp.com” was operating, and falsely claiming to be the website for a law firm called “Peters & Peters Solicitors” or “Peters & Peters Solicitors LLP”. At this time, the website appears to be no longer operating.

This website was not a website for a genuine firm of solicitors. The website did however misuse the name and address of a genuine firm of solicitors and the name of a genuine solicitor.

The website provided a telephone number of “+44 289 581 7926“, a fax number of “+44 203 318 4124” and an email address of “info@ppsolicitorsllp.com”.

The SRA has also been informed that members of public have received a faxed letter claiming to be from “Keith Oliver (Distinction) Head of Private Client Attorney”, with a letterhead falsely claiming it is from Peters & Peters Solicitors LLP. The letter relates to pursuing compensation from a purportedly unclaimed “permanent life insurance policy”, with the recipient of the letter understood to have the same last name as a supposedly deceased client. The faxed correspondence refers to the website and fax number noted above, but also provides a different contact telephone number of “+441172302540” and email addresses of “koliver@ppsolicitorsllp.com” and kithliver@gmail.com.

Any business or transactions through the website, contact numbers or email addresses set out above are not undertaken by a solicitor's firm or a solicitor authorised and regulated by the SRA.
